Examples of Work
Below you will find a sampled collection of my work as an educator and musician.
Lesson Plans
Attached is a lesson plan for the Intermediate Concert Choir at Taft High School. In this lesson, students were building their independent musicianship and music literacy skills. Additionally, they were developing vocal and performance technique in preparation for an upcoming concert.
Attached is a lesson plan for Beginning Mixed Choir at Taft High School. The predominant focus of this lesson was developing critical listening ability. We accomplished this by analyzing and discussing a performance of a piece we were preparing. Then, we used this discussion to influence our own performance of the piece. Furthermore, we continued developing musical literacy and vocal technique.
Attached is a quarterly content breakdown of Intermediate Concert Choir and Beginning Mixed Chorus at Taft. It includes an outline of concepts that are taught throughout the year covering music theory, vocal technique, repertoire, community building, and more.
Attached is a curriculum map for the second semester of Secondary General Music at Harlan Community Academy. The Semester 2 course goals were developing understanding of how music interacts with various elements of society and culture, critically assessing music, and gaining music literacy.
Attached is a series of lesson plans for Kindergarten general music during my time at Black River Public School. These lessons cover the topic of "long versus short." This series is from a larger unit focusing on opposites, including other topics such as "fast versus slow" and "loud versus soft."

Teaching
|
This is an assignment for my beginning choir classes during the onset of remote learning. Students recorded themselves singing a vocal warm-up sequence, demonstrated in the video, typical of our daily classroom routine.

Conducting
This is a sampling of my conducting work thus far. It includes performances from my time at Taft High School, Black River Public School, and Grand Haven High School. Selections include ensembles ranging from beginners to advanced.

Singing
In addition to teaching music, I enjoy continuing my personal musicianship in solo vocal performance. Comfortable in both classical and musical theatre styles, I maintain a diverse repertoire. Attached are live recordings from a performance while I was at Michigan State University. Included are "Much More" from Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones's The Fantasticks, "Ich hab' in Penna einen Liebsten wohnen" by Hugo Wolf, and "Plaisir d'amour" by Giovanni Martini.

Alumni Recognition
I was featured on the MSU Running Start social media as an alumni spotlight. MSU Running Start is a "multi-disciplinary program that helps equip students for work in today's music industry" that operates through Michigan State University's College of Music. Additionally, I spoke on a Running Start Alumni Panel in the winter of 2020. This panel was comprised of MSU College of Music alumni working in Chicago. On the panel, we talked to current MSU vocal students about careers in music after college, specifically in urban areas.
